On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength and achievements of women worldwide. Women actively challenge society`s norms and break the barriers in their respective fields. The success stories prove that dreams can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and determination. In this article, we will introduce you to some incredible women who are leading in their respective fields and making powerful impacts in society. They are the role models for millions of people across the world.

1. Sudha Murthy – Philanthropy and Social Impact

Sudha Murty is an established philanthropist, author, educator, and social worker. She is the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and has dedicated her life to helping people in need. Born and raised in Karnataka, she developed a strong sense of responsibility towards society from a young age.

Sudha Murty has written over 40 books in English and Kannada for children and adults. Some of her famous books include Three Thousand Stitches, Dollar Bahu, Wise and Otherwise, and Grandma’s Bag of Stories. Her writings have been adapted into TV series, films, and animation. Through the Infosys Foundation, she has worked to improve education and healthcare, especially in rural areas. Her efforts have helped thousands of people to access quality education and medical services. She believes in using technology and innovation to make a positive difference, inspiring many in the corporate world to do the same.

Sudha Murty has received several prestigious awards, including the Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Academi Bal Sahitya Puraskar in 2023, Padma Shri, and the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature in 2006. Sudha Murty’s compassion, wisdom, and contributions inspire millions across India and beyond.

2. Jyothi Reddy: CEO of Key Software Solutions.

Jyothi Reddy is an inspiring example of hard work, determination, and success. Her journey truly inspires people with how she transformed her life from a farmer to the owner of a software company. At the age of 10, her father sent her and her sister to an orphanage in hopes of a better future. She was married to a farmer at the age of 16 years before completing her class 10 education, but she never stopped.

She pursued a BA degree from an open university and worked as a government teacher to help farmers learn. Wanting a better life for her children, she worked extra jobs and completed her MA while enrolling in a computer course. With her cousin’s help, she moved to the United States, where she did various small jobs, including babysitting, sales, and motel work.

Eventually, she got a job in a software recruitment company and started her own company in 2001. She founded Key Software Solutions, a $15 million company. Jyothi Reddy became a successful entrepreneur and set an inspiration for millions.

3. Prachi Dhabal Deb: International Award-winning Cake Artist

Prachi Dhabal Deb is an internationally recognized cake artist from Pune, India. Prachi was featured in Forbes, Femina, and multiple international magazines for her edible artistry. Furthermore, she earned several prestigious awards in the last few years.

In July 2024, she was awarded at Oxford University for her notable contribution to the field of Royal Icing Art. She is a three-time World Record holder in the World Book of Records, London, in 2022 and 2023, for creating some of the most prominent vegan Royal Icing structures.

In August 2022, Mr Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister, awarded her at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. In January 2025, the British MP Bob Blackman felicitated her in London for excellence in royal icing art.

As the Head Judge at Cakeology, India’s biggest cake show, Prachi Dhalal Deb continues to inspire the world with her artistry. Her journey proves that passion and innovation can create magic.

4. Savitriamma: Surrogate mother of Leopards in Bannerghatta Biological Park

Savitriamma, a 46-year-old caretaker, has an extraordinary bond with the animals at Bannerghatta Biological Park, Karnataka.  Savitriamma’s journey at the park began in 2002. Her story is one of love, compassion, and dedication. 

Savitriamma started as a cleaning staff in the park and then transferred to the zoo hospital as a caretaker, noticing her deep connection and comfort with the animals.

She is a surrogate mother to orphaned leopard cubs, providing them the love and care they need. The leopard cubs respond to her just like they would to their own mother. She takes care of their feeding and hygiene and even puts them to sleep like a real mother.

This woman reminds us that humans can build incredible relationships with the animal world. Through her work, Savitriamma continues to provide love and care, helping the leopard cubs grow and thrive.

5. Ms. Laibi Phanjoubam- Female Football Club

Laibi Phanjoubam, 64, has a vision of leading Manipur`s only all-girls football club, the Andro Mahila Mandal Association (AMMA), which is located 40 km from Imphal. She started with a handloom and weaving craft shop in 1982 to support women in the village.

In 1999, she began training young girls in football when young boys and girls were being drawn into drugs and militancy. Football became a powerful tool in Manipur, and the All Manipur Football Association recognized this association.

Laibi has trained over 150 young girls who have played in state and national championships.

AMMA has since produced national and international players, including Rina Salam, who plays for the Indian women`s team. Today, Bikram Singh Thockchom, who left his corporate job in Delhi, leads the club. Laibi Phanjoubam`s inspiring story is captured in the Manipuri film “Andro Dreams.”
