Q1. How does Anytime Fitness stand apart from other fitness brands?
At Anytime Fitness, what truly sets us apart is our approach to convenience and community. The idea of having a gym that’s open 24/7 – no matter the time of day – resonates with people who struggle to fit fitness into their busy schedules. But it’s not merely about the hours. It is about creating an environment where people feel welcomed, supported, and motivated. We emphasise personalisation. Our trainers don’t focus on generic routines. They work with members to create tailored fitness plans. And there’s a sense of belonging here that’s hard to find elsewhere as our gyms are designed to feel approachable to the core, with the culture being non-intrusive. Plus, our global access feature means you can use any Anytime Fitness gym worldwide, which is a big win for frequent travellers.
Q2. Which core areas in Mumbai and the rest of Maharashtra are you planning to focus on by FY26?
Mumbai is a hub for fitness enthusiasts, and we see immense potential here. While we already have a strong presence in key locations like Vile Parle, Prabhadevi, Malad, Goregaon and Kemps Corner in South Mumbai – we are actively looking for new avenues to bring the Anytime Fitness closer to more communities. Beyond Mumbai, Pune has been an incredible market for us, and we’re planning to strengthen our foothold there while exploring opportunities in cities like Nagpur and Nashik. Our aim is to make fitness accessible to people not merely in urban areas but also in smaller towns across Maharashtra.
Q3. Could you elaborate on your expansion strategy for the next five years?
Over the next five years, we’re looking at aggressive growth – not merely in terms of numbers but also in terms of building strong relationships with our franchisees and members. By FY30, we’re aiming to have over 500 gyms across India. Our focus will be on a mix of metros, tier-2, and even tier-3 cities because fitness is becoming a priority everywhere, and it is not limited to urban locations. We’re also working on enhancing our technology, from better apps to more seamless member experiences. Expansion for us isn’t confined to opening gyms. Instead, it’s about creating fitness communities that stand the tests of time and ace in the long run.
Q4. How can individuals apply to become a franchisee of Anytime Fitness?
We’re always on the lookout for passionate individuals who believe in fitness and community. The process is straightforward – you can reach out to us through our official website, where you’ll find a section dedicated to franchise inquiries. We have recently launched our regional corporate office at Andheri East, Mumbai. Once you connect with us, our team walks you through the process – from understanding your goals to identifying the right location and supporting you with the setup. You don’t necessarily need prior experience in the fitness industry. Rather, what matters is your passion and willingness to create a fitness-centric space for your community.
Q5. What marketing strategies are you implementing for Mumbai?
Mumbai is an incredible market, so our marketing strategies here are equally vibrant and multifaceted. We’re leaning heavily on digital platforms to reach the tech-savvy crowd, starting from social media & performance marketing campaigns. But we also believe in the power of local connections. We’re organising community events, franchise expos, and partnerships with local businesses to engage with people on a personal level. Existing franchise referrals have always been a powerful tool for us alongside recommendations from Portfolio Management Service providers. We’re focusing on creating exceptional experiences that potential franchise owners want to talk about.
Q6. What is the initial investment required to open an Anytime Fitness franchise?
The initial investment to open an Anytime Fitness franchise typically ranges between ₹3 crore to ₹3.5 crore, depending on the location, size, and sq.ft area of the gym. This includes everything – equipment, interiors, team hiring & branding. We also provide 360° support to our franchisees, from operational training to marketing assistance, ensuring they’re set up for success from day one. It`s an investment that helps franchise owners generate incredible returns and a robust ROI on the same.
Q7. What challenges are you currently facing in the western region?
The western region has immense potential, but like any other market, it comes with its own set of challenges. One of the biggest hurdles we face is the availability of real estate – finding the right location at the right price in cities like Mumbai has been tricky. Additionally, competition in the fitness space is fierce, which means we need to constantly innovate and offer something unique to stand out. Lastly, building awareness around the importance of fitness in other parts of Maharashtra is a work in progress. But we see these challenges as opportunities – each one pushes us to think bigger and better.
